First links in our Safety Net

On August 31st 2023, Overdose Awareness Day, Voices of Hope held it's annual Overdose Vigil. This event took place at North East Community Park. We were able to honor those we've lost to the disease of addiction. It was a powerful and emotional gathering that brought attention to the need for prevention, education, and support in order to combat the overdose crisis.

We felt that this was a fitting time to launch our Community Safety Net project. By fostering a sense of unity and empowerment, the project hopes to inspire community members to take action and make a lasting impact on supporting and providing services to help those with the disease of addiction. Through this this next year, the project aims to create a ripple effect, sparking conversations and inspiring others to get involved. Together, we can work towards a more inclusive and compassionate community.

We would like to thank all those who came out and got involved Thursday night, a special thanks to Lauren Levy, JD, MPH, Cecil County Health Officer; Jackie Gregory, Cecil County Council President; Rebecca Hamilton, Cecil County Council and Ken Collins, Cecil County Director of Behavioral Health. As well as a huge shout out to The C4AA (Center for Artistic Activism) for all their help and support!
